Up to now, the whole world has only a few dozen. They attract attention because they both resemble cats and resemble the face of the "werewolf" character.

The photos below are the "Lykoi cat family" by Dorota Strychar, 36, from Legnica, Poland. She is the first person in Poland to own this breed, they were bought from the US at the end of 2017.

Lykoi is known as the "werewolf in the cat family" thanks to its unique appearance, a combination of many different cat breeds. At first glance, the Lykoi cats are both hairless sphynx cats, just like the big round eyes of a short-haired American cat, but have a face similar to Wolverine's character.

The extremely rare Lykoi cat breed was first bred in 2011 in the state of Tennessee (USA) and usually sells for about $ 2,000 each.

They are the result of a genetic mutation in the American Shorthair. The gene mutation prevents Lykoi cats from growing hair like normal cats, but is inhibited, leaving the area around their eyes, nose, mouth and ears hairless.

The rest of the body hair on the Lykoi cat also grows like a wolf.

Another special thing that makes Lykoi cats different from all cat breeds is that they behave like a... dog! They are very affectionate, like to be close to people, loyal to their owners, curious to explore their surroundings, eat a lot and are very active.

They possess the ability to hunt quickly like wolves, always following closely and pounce on anything they consider to be their prey.

Werewolf cats have a weight of 4 to 8kg, a slim body, larger ears and a tail as long as the body or slightly shorter. Of course, the biggest feature of this breed is their unique coat. If the normal cat breeds when the baby is fluffy, the hair grows up smooth, but the Lykoi species gets bigger, the hair is "messy", rough like a wolf's hair.

Many breeders believe werewolf cats to be partially hairless, with individual werewolf cats having no hair on their faces, eyes, ears, chin, and legs. Even individuals with a larger amount of hair still appear thinner and shakier than normal cats.

In addition, cats of this breed need regular cleaning and the frequency depends on the amount of hair in the werewolf cat. If the coat is thinner, the skin will need regular skin care like the Sphinx and Devon Rex. As for hair care, just like regular cats, this cat breed only molts once a year.

It is worth noting that although this cat breed is very docile, it needs a lot of playfulness and company. Therefore, keeping a werewolf cat requires a large space and toys for them to interact with, such as climbing frames for cats and the like. Of course, it would be best if you have more than one pet at home.
